Diarmaid Upton
BArch Architecture, BSc Digital Experience Design
Diarmaid is a PhD candidate at the School of Design researching under the umbrella theme of "Health in a Box" as part of the Johnson & Johnson scholarship programme. His emerging research interests are centred around enabling designers to intervene in complex social systems, and in the general relationship between systems science and design science. In particular he is interested in how social systems can be designed to enable continual open self-organisation and innovation, and what this means for the role of the designer.
Diarmaid is the founder/director of Blackbox, a strategic design agency.
