Gwen is a full-time lecturer in the Media Communications Department in Cork Institute of Technology. She mainly lecturers on the Visual Communication course, but also lectures on the Multimedia course. Recently, her teaching has been focused on Year 1, and Year 4. She has also organized a range of design related events in CIT and Cork. She has always had an interest in socially responsible graphic design. Her current research is within the areas of social sustainability and graphic design, particularly graphic design education.
She likes her dog and cat a lot. She also likes running and dancing…but not at the same time.

This research aims to describe how visual communciation can be actively involved in developing a more sustainable mode of consumerism, rather than actively encourage an unsustainable mode.
